This ultra light all-in-one gel-cream combines SPF 30 and UVA protection with niacinamide. It protects the skin from the sun and from premature skin aging. It absorbs quickly, leaves no white cast and layers well under make-up. Niacinamide helps the complexion look more even, panthenol, prebiotics and antioxidants leave the skin feeling comfortable.

How to use

The Day Shield is an essential part of LEVEL I in the Dr. Liv Method – without this step, it’s like training without safety instructions.

1. Wash your Hands:
It's crucial to always wash your hands to avoid transfer of bacteria to your face.

2. Wash your face:
Start your day by washing your face with the Dr. Liv cleanser. AHA and BHA contained in the Dr. Liv Smoothing Cleanser boost your cell turnover in addition to cleansing the face.

3. Apply the DAY SHIELD:
To sufficiently cover your face and neck area, apply the Day Shield on the entire length of your index and middle finger. Spread evenly on your face, ears and neck and the back of the hands! Please remember to shake the Day Shield before usage.

Why does the Day Shield only use SPF 30 and not SPF 50? And why does the Day Shield also block UVA?

The Day Shield combines SPF 30 (UVB) and UVA protection to effectively block both UVA and UVB rays. Studies are shown that SPF 30 blocks approximately 97% of these rays, while SPF 60 offers slightly higher protection, blocking around 98% of rays, the difference in efficiency is marginal. By shielding against both UVA and UVB rays, the Day Shield not only protects against sunburn but also helps prevent premature aging (caused by UVA rays).

Does the Day Shield contain antioxidants?

Yes, the Day Shield contains antioxidants protecting your skin from free radicals, helping to prevent and minimize damage caused by oxidation, thus providing additional protection for your skin.

Is the Day Shield suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes, our products are hypoallergenic, meaning they carry minimal risk of causing allergic reactions. Therefore, using the Day Shield with sensitive skin should not present any issues. In fact, daily application of sunscreen is very important and highly beneficial for sensitive skin. Disclaimer: All skincare products can potentially cause an allergic reaction, due to a sensitivity to an ingredient within the product’s formulation. If you are likely to experience allergic reactions we recommend applying the product on your forearm and waiting 24 hours whether a reaction develops.

Is the Day Shield tinted?

No, the Day Shield is not tinted. Its colour is due to the presence of antioxidants in the formulation. Once applied to the face, the Day Shield does not leave behind any white cast and is suitable for all skin tones.

Is the Day Shield 'clean'?

The term 'clean' is largely a marketing label with little real significance, especially in the EU and Switzerland, where skincare regulations are among the strictest in the world. By definition, our products contain ingredients of the highest quality, safety and standard.

Is the Day Shield safe to use during pregnancy?

Day Shield contains no acids and no retinoids. It can be used daily during pregnancy and breastfeeding. For questions about your own situation, please speak to your doctor.

Is the Day Shield suitable for acne-prone and sensitive skin?

Sure, it is a super lightweight gel. It is perfectly suitable for acne-prone and sensitive skin.

If I keep the Day Shield in a standing position, a funny fluid comes out? Is that normal?

Yes, don’t worry. It doesn’t go bad and it does not dissolve. You just need to shake it super well before every usage.

Does the sunscreen reduce your vitamin D production?

Yes, it does. However the face represents only around 4% of our body surface - you can therefore get your vitamin D from parts of your body where you do not mind getting potential pigmentation.

My make-up has SPF 15 - is that enough?

No, you would have to apply 2mg per cm2 of make-up to get the advertised protection. This would mean applying a lot of make-up - more than you wish to have on your face. Additionally, it does not offer UVA protection.

Is the Day Shield comodogenic?

No, it is super light weighted and perfectly suitable for people with acne prone and sensitive skin. Even men love it, as it is not greasy at all.
